In this intensive 10-month program, you learn to prepare drawings of residential and commercial buildings that are used for construction and for obtaining building permits. You apply drafting and design techniques and learn to understand industry construction standards and building codes. The civil/survey course within the program teaches the importance of building site information. Throughout the program you will be using several CAD programs including AutoCAD.
Our knowledgeable instructors create an environment patterned after the working world: You get to solve real design problems and you are encouraged to develop your creative talents and techniques beyond the level demanded of a junior draftsperson.
First semester (September–December)

This program is specially designed to prepare you for entry-level drafting positions in architecturally related fields which include architectural, civil or structural engineering offices as well as manufacturing, facility management and municipal services.It is also excellent preparation for continuing your education in the field of architecture.
You must submit proof of graduation (or letter from your school stating you will graduate, if you are in Grade 12) or be 19 years of age or older. In addition you must have one of the following with a C+ or better:
- Foundations of Mathematics 11
- Principles of Mathematics 11
- Pre-Calculus 11
- MATH 085 or equivalent

if you’re currently or recently employed as a draftsperson, our upgrading program allows you to complete your certificate requirements or to become proficient in a specific process or technique.
As an upgrading student, you are expected to meet program prerequisites through previous enrolment or proof of industry experience, approved by the program instructor.
Upgrading students cannot be enrolled for more than 13 weeks or cannot displace anyone registered in an upcoming intake.
