The main goal of ORMUSA is to monitor working conditions in the factories of the maquilas (free trade zones) with particular focus on violence against women. The organizations offers psychological support to victims of violence, including the formation of self-help groups and has a call-in service to respond to labour and other problems. Yet they are making important changes in the policies, attitudes and practices of people in the country.ORMUSA works with municipal authorities, police and health officials to achieve policy changes that affects women’s working conditions as well as working on important issues of women’s health nationally.
