Age of Arousal by Linda Griffiths
January 8 - 26
A lavish, sexy ensemble piece about the forbidden and gloriously liberated self by Canadian playwright Linda Griffiths. Set in the Victorian age, when women outnumber men by the thousands, and many women will never have the option of marriage, Mary and Rhoda run a typing school for women. When these “new women” take on three siblings as their pupils, and Mary’s cousin Everard joins the scene, discoveries of passion, marriage, and the rights and roles of women are “bursting like corsets with unbridled desire.”

UFV THEATRE PROGRAM INFORMATION
Whether you’re interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts, earning a bachelor’s degree with a theatre focus, or just hoping to improve your confidence and communication skills, UFV’s Theatre Department can help you develop your craft and launch your career.
At UFV Theatre, we believe creating a supportive and stimulating learning environment is the key to nurturing student success. We offer small class sizes to ensure all students receive individual attention. Our knowledgeable faculty and staff are dedicated to helping you discover and unleash your full potential.
We offer several program options, including a Theatre Diploma, an Associate of Arts degree in Theatre, and a Bachelor of Art’s degree with a minor or extended minor in Theatre. You can also take theatre courses on an elective basis.
We present a full season of theatre, with three major productions, a Directors' Theatre Festival of student directed plays, and many smaller events, such as playreadings and poetry slams. All our productions cultivate professional standards of practice and performance, and offer many opportunities for you to develop your creative skills both onstage and behind the scenes.
The Theatre program is based on the University of the Fraser Valley's campus in the beautiful city of Chilliwack
, British Columbia. Our student-centered learning facility on the Chilliwack North campus
features a unique 206-seat thrust theatre especially designed for instructional purposes. Our superb facility also boasts state-of-the-art technical equipment, spacious scene, prop and wardrobe shops, a well-stocked costume department, and flexible studio/rehearsal spaces.
UFV Theatre enjoys strong links with the local communities of the Fraser Valley, reflected in the high audience attendance for our productions and the strong support we receive from local businesses, organizations, and individuals.
If you live in the Fraser Valley, UFV Theatre allows you to study theatre close to home, reducing your accommodation and travel expenses. And if you're coming from further afield, Chilliwack offers the most reasonable cost of living in the Lower Mainland, only an hour's drive from Vancouver.
These are just a handful of the many reasons why students have been choosing UFV Theatre for over thirty years! Learn how to apply
