Apprenticeship programs


Are you interested in becoming an Apprentice?
If you are working in the carpentry, electrical, or automotive service industries, why not become an apprentice? Contact the Ministry of Advanced Education, Industry Training Authority at 1-866-660-6011 or online at www.itabc.ca. Once you have an ITA Registration Number, UFV can help to secure your training. UFV offers apprenticeship training in the following trades.

Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship
Automotive repair and service is a compulsory certification trade, which requires all those working in the industry to be certified with a Certificate of Qualification or to be registered as an apprentice. The Automotive Apprenticeship program consists of four levels of training, with six or seven weeks of in-school training in each of the four levels. In-school technical training consists of theory and practical components and apprentices receive further training on the job during the remainder of their apprenticeship.

Carpentry Apprenticeship
The Carpentry Apprenticeship program consists of four levels of training, with six weeks of in-school training in each of the four levels. Apprentices receive theory and practical training while attending school and train on the job during the remainder of their apprenticeship. 

Cook Apprenticeship  ... NEW ... Level 1 starts January 7, 2013
The Professional Cook Apprenticeship program consists of three levels of training, with 180 hours of in-school training in each of the three levels. Apprentices receive theory and practical training while attending school and train on the job during the remainder of their apprenticeship.

Electrical Work Apprenticeship
Electrical Apprenticeship consists of four levels of training, with ten weeks of in-school training in each of the four levels. Apprentices receive theory and practical instruction while attending school and train on the job during the remainder of their apprenticeship.
