The power of peer mentoring
Studies have shown that new university students who have the opportunity to work with a peer mentor achieve higher grades and are more likely to complete their studies than students who are not mentored.
In light of these results, The Arts Advice Centre has developed a peer mentorship program that pairs senior students with newcomers to provide the support, guidance and friendship needed to ease the adjustment to university life, and foster learning and success.
Peer mentors receive training, work closely with university staff, gain leadership experience, serve as role models, and get the satisfaction of helping others succeed.
Become a peer mentor
Mentees have someone to turn to for support when they are met with the challenges of university life. They receive personalized guidance from their peer mentor, which helps reduce loneliness and anxiety, speed up integration into the UFV community, and boost academic achievement.
