Canadian Red Cross Courses

Canadian Red Cross CPR Level C
This course is for professional rescuers (i.e. police, firefighters, first responders, workplace first aid teams, and lifeguards). It includes the current First Aid and CPR guidelines. Skills taught and practised in this course include one- and two-person rescuer, adult/child/infant CPR, and introduction to automated external defibrillation (AED). Certification is valid for three years.

Canadian Red Cross CPR Level HCP
This course is intended for healthcare providers (i.e. physicians, nurses, paramedics, and allied healthcare providers, such as occupational therapists and physiotherapists). It includes the current First Aid and CPR guidelines. Skills taught and practised in this course include one- and two-person rescuer, adult/child/infant CPR, use of bag-valve-mask, rescue breathing, and an introduction to automated external defibrillation (AED). Certification is valid for three years.

Canadian Red Cross CPR Level C Recertification
Prerequisite: successful completion of CPR C within the last two years. This four-hour course is for professional rescuers or those certified

Canadian Red Cross Child Care Emergency First Aid
Formerly Childsafe First Aid. This course is for parents with children up to 8 years of age and includes the current First Aid and CPR B guidelines. This course stresses emergency first aid procedures, recognition of home hazards, allergies, bleeding management, and child/infant CPR, including airway emergencies, breathing and circulation emergencies, first aid for respiratory and cardiac arrest, head and spine injuries, wound care, and poisons. Recognized by the BC Provincial Childcare Facilities Licensing Board. Certification is valid for three years.

Canadian Red Cross Emergency First Aid
This course provides simple First Aid & CPR techniques taught in an interactive environment, for individuals who want an overview of First Aid & CPR for the home or workplace. The course covers skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies for adults, CPR, and other topics such as choking, airway and breathing emergencies and prevention of disease transmission, sudden medical conditions and injuries to the head and spine. This course includes current first aid and CPR guidelines, and it meets OHS regulations for Basic First Aid. Certification is valid for three years.

Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid
This course provides comprehensive First Aid & CPR techniques for those who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies in the home or workplace. A variety of topics are covered from basic first aid such as cardiovascular and breathing emergencies, CPR C, prevention of disease transmission to more severe sudden medical conditions, soft tissue injuries, poisons, and injuries to the head and spine. This comprehensive course is for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home. It includes current first aid and CPR guidelines and meets federal and a variety of provincial/territorial regulations for Standard First Aid and CPR. Certification is valid for three years.

WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Courses

Occupational First Aid Level I
A one-day program designed to provide life-saving first aid skills to workers in industry. The day will cover the ABCs of basic first
aid, blocked airways, one-person CPR, and lifts and transport of the injured. Manuals will be distributed in class. Participants must be at
least 16 years old. Certification is valid for three years.

must be 19 and possess the physical ability to perform learning tasks. You must have a good command of English and submit a
statement of fitness before taking the final exam. Manuals can be purchased through UFV bookstore. Certification is valid for three
years. Personal pocket mask included. Practical exam takes place on Monday and Tuesday of the week following the last class.
