Professional development benefits provide support to UFV faculty and staff. We encourage all employees to engage in professional development activities that develop job related skills, expertise in subjects related to UFV curriculum, and knowledge or skills in the teaching/learning process. Professional Development support can be found through the following:
The In-service Professional Development Fund supports the professional development needs of UFV faculty and staff. This fund covers eligible events, tuition, professional memberships and resource materials.
The Training & Development Allowance is a supplement to the UFV In-service Professional Development fund.
The Employee Tuition Waiver Program allows permanent UFV employees, spouses and dependents to enroll in University credit courses without payment of the course fee, subject to conditions.
The Employee Tuition Assistance Program offers additional tuition assistance for permanent UFV faculty and staff who have exhausted their In-service Professional Development funds.
The Faculty Sabbatical Leave applies to all permanent UFV faculty. This program provides an extended period of time for faculty to engage in a program of research or other appropriate scholarly activity, an opportunity to upgrade professional skills, acquire new competencies or credentials, or engage in approved teaching and learning activities, including course or curriculum development work.
The Faculty Scholarly Activity fund applies to all permanent UFV faculty. This program provides funding and releases which allow faculty to develop their intellectual interests, and permits them the time to pursue scholarship.
The Staff Educational Leave applies to all permanent UFV staff employees. This program provides short and long term assisted leaves for employees to engage in activities related to their career development at the University.
