PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

UFV’s professional Floral Design program provides you with comprehensive training to prepare you to work in the floral industry or start your own floral business.

Led by an American Institute of Floral Designers-certified designer who has 30 years of experience in the industry, the program teaches you hands-on techniques to master the fundamentals of flower arranging using fresh, treated, and dried floral products. You also learn advanced techniques to equip you with the skills needed to flourish in the floral industry.

The program consists of six modules:

  • Floral Design Basics I
  • Floral Design Basics II
  • Christmas Arrangements
  • Special Occasion/Silk and Dried Flowers
  • Sympathy and Church Flowers
  • Wedding Flowers

Each of the six modules are 10 sessions — two evening sessions per week for five weeks. Floral Design I, Floral Design II, and Floral Design Christmas are offered from September to December. Special Occasions, Sympathy and Church, and Weddings are offered between February and June.

CAREER EXPECTATIONS

This certificate program offers you in-depth, comprehensive training that is designed to prepare you for direct employment in the floral industry.
