Secondary Teacher Education Program
If you have already earned a bachelor’s degree, UFV’s new 12-month, post-degree secondary Teacher Education Program (TEP) can open the door for you to teach grade 8 to 12 in public or private schools, locally in the Fraser Valley, or around the world.
The program has two streams: a Math/Sciences and a Humanities stream. Each year, 18 students are admitted to the Math/Sciences stream, and 18 to the Humanities stream. Classes start in July and are held on the Abbotsford campus.
Through a combination of professional coursework and practicum experience in local schools, the 55-credit program gives you the opportunity to develop your own teaching practice, strongly rooted in educational theory.
The total tuition fee for the program is $9,500, which is spread over 12 months.
In addition to extensive supervision during your training and practica, you receive support as you transition out of the program to find employment.
Upon successful completion of the program, you are recommended to the Ministry of Education to receive a BC Teaching certificate through the Teacher Regulation Branch.
