Scheduling Office
The Scheduling Office is responsible for the production of the semester and final examination timetables. It also books rooms for other events.
The Scheduling Office works under the advisement of the Timetable Advisory Committee.
Course scheduling
Decisions about which courses are offered and at what times they will run are made within the academic departments. The Scheduling office creates sections and assigns rooms based on requests from the academic department heads.
The UFV timetable (a list of sections that forms the course schedule for a given semester) is developed through a process that begins as early as a year in advance. Course scheduling requests outside the regular timetable scheduling process (for example, independent study sections) can be made by department heads using the Scheduling request form (pdf), or via email.
Final exam scheduling
The final exam schedule is determined by the Scheduling office after approximately one-third of the semester has elapsed. All faculty are provided with exam request forms at the beginning of each semester, which they are required to complete and submit to the Scheduling office within the first week of classes. The exam schedule is then developed based on the faculty requests along with some basic scheduling rules.
