When you graduate, you are ready to enter an apprenticeship as an aircraft mechanic or aircraft structures technician. After 25 months, you can apply for your Aircraft Maintenance Engineer S license (AME S license) from Transport Canada.
Graduates are well prepared to enter the industry as aircraft structures apprentices who have experience with hands-on aircraft repair shop projects and real-life damage scenarios. The program is worth 11-months credit and allows graduates to go on to earn the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer S license (AME S license).
If you’re currently or recently employed as a aircraft mechanic or aircraft structures technician, our upgrading program allows you to complete your certificate requirements or to become proficient in a specific process or technique.
As an upgrading aircraft structures student, you are expected to meet program prerequisites through previous enrolment or proof of industry experience, approved by the program instructor. Acceptance by Transport Canada for completion of a single module is assessed on an individual basis.
Upgrading aircraft structures technicians cannot be enrolled for more than 13 weeks or cannot displace anyone registered in an upcoming intake. This might suit you if you have attended training at UFV before, or you wish to enhance your skills by attending a course that deals specifically with sheet metal or composite repair.
