Visual Arts extended minor
This section specifies the Visual Arts extended minor requirements only. Information on additional Bachelor of Arts requirements begins in this section.
Lower-level requirements: 21 credits
• Six credits of 100- or 200-level AH courses
• Nine credits of lower-level Visual Arts in at least two studio disciplines
• Six additional credits any 100- or 200-level VA, AH, FILM, or MACS courses, or IPK 277 (maximum 3 credits in MACS)
Note: In order to be eligible to take the required upper-level courses students must ensure they complete the appropriate lower-level prerequisites.
Upper-level requirements: 16 credits
• Four credits of 300- or 400-level Art History
• Twelve credits of 300- or 400-level VA courses in at least two studio disciplines
Note: The prerequisite for Visual Arts Independent Study is permission of program head and instructors based on portfolio review.
Visual Arts minor
This section specifies the Visual Arts and minor requirements only. Information on additional Bachelor of Arts requirements begins in this section.
Lower-level requirements: 12 credits
12 lower-level credits in Visual Arts, Film, and Art History, including:
• one Art History course
• one Visual Arts course
Upper-level requirements: 15 credits
15 credits in Visual Arts and Art History, including:
• One Art History course, 300-level or above
• One Visual Arts course, 300-level or above
Note: In order to be eligible to take the required upper-level courses, students must ensure they complete the appropriate lower-level prerequisites.
Note: The prerequisite for Visual Arts Independent Study is permission of program head and instructors based on portfolio review.
Certificate in Extended Studies
The extended studies certificate is designed for students who have baccalaureate degrees, who wish to complete the equivalent of a minor, or extended minor in Visual Arts. Entrance requirements are completion of a BA and 12 or 18 credits in lower-level visual arts or art history, with a cumulative grade point average of 2.33. Students proceeding to universities or art schools are strongly advised to consult the calendar of the university to which they intend to transfer credit.
