Under the general direction of the Director of Facilities, this position provides building maintenance operations for the university. Duties include maintaining the general appearance, cleanliness and safety of the interior and exterior of the campus buildings, exterior entrances and walkways; reviewing and completing daily work orders; performing building maintenance and repairs including minor plumbing and electrical repairs. The BMW coordinates and assists in the collection of all confidential shredding and recyclable materials as needed; maintains and services the clean water filter kiosks and participates in pest control at the university. The BMW coordinates/supervises contracted services as required; assists in the assembly and installation of manufactured goods; transports and relocates equipment, furniture and supplies, manually or by operating a motor vehicle. The BMW acts as campus liaison for special events and set-ups; maintains safety conditions inside and outside the campus; and acts as an Emergency Response Team member.
Shift work is involved on a rotational basis with days and evening involved.
Certification in building systems or maintenance programs (such as BOMA, BOMI, IFMA) preferred or equivalent education or experience in basic trades-related fields. Minimum two years related building maintenance experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience is acceptable. Valid driver’s license, and basic computer skills mandatory.
