The School of Health Studies at the University of the Fraser Valley, located in Chilliwack, British Columbia, invites applications from qualified individuals for a permanent 50% faculty position in the CDA program commencing August 1, 2017.
UFV’s growing, vibrant and progressive CDA program offers a one year Certified Dental Assistant certificate program. CDA faculty teach in the classroom, laboratory and clinic settings and requires the flexibility to teach in more than one level of the program. Classroom and clinic teaching occur on the Chilliwack campus of UFV. Given UFV’s mandate as a teaching intensive university, the CDA faculty are committed to scholarly and research activities that contribute to an innovative and positive teaching and learning environment. Simulation learning, inter-disciplinary initiatives, aboriginal health and internationalization are ongoing priorities for curriculum integration and development. Participation on departmental and institutional committees is an expectation.
Successful applicants will have practicing licensure with CDSBC, and will hold a CDA certificate and Baccalaureate degree (enrolment in a degree program will be considered). A strong, current clinical practice foundation as a Certified Dental Assistant. Classroom and clinic teaching experience in a CDA program. Highly developed time management, communication, and collaboration skills. Evidence of ongoing professional development and scholarship. Experience in curriculum development and community service are assets.
