Reporting to the Manager, IT Support Services the Senior Technical Analyst provides leadership and expertise in the configuration, administration and deployment of desktop software applications and operating systems for the University. The Analyst leads the development of strategy and best practice in the operations of an enterprise scale workstation management program.Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Coordinate software distribution through design, build and packaging procedures
  • Design and maintain the operating system image for both employee and student workstations
  • Research and recommend best practices for central management of Apple desktop and mobile devices
  • Develop and manage software deployment based policy and process
  • Coordinate training and orientation for software deployment processes and procedures
  • Provide leadership, guidance and communication for software deployment processes to IT Support staff
  • Administer workstation security tools and practices, and group policy object management
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to facilitate change and release management processes
  • Develop, document and socialize policy and procedure to mitigate risk and facilitate change for software deployments
  • Manage, plan and schedule software deployments through release management processes
  • Identify and incorporate new deployment technologies and methodologies
  • Lead the development, implementation and administration of Apple workstations and devices
  • Recruitment and supervision of student technicians, including performance review processes

Qualifications

A recognized degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or related fields is required. Minimum five (5) years’ experience managing and deploying software for Microsoft and Apple based computers. Experience with installation, maintenance and upgrade of computer operating systems, hardware, software and peripherals in a networked environment. Extensive knowledge of managing and deploying software operating systems via Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). Experience with Windows, Apple, SCCM, WMI and Windows PowerShell scripting is a valuable asset. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in developing process and policy around change and release management. Ability to demonstrate customer service and conflict resolution skills. Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and organizational skills. Ability to lead a team in a fast paced, high pressure work environment.
