Employment facts

Companies that are not bracing for the massive generational management shift  that will unfold in the next decade risk falling behind.

According to the Bloomberg Business Week, 10,000 baby boomers—people born between 1946 and 1964—are reaching retirement age every day. In a survey of HR and IT executives, 24% said that they frequently lose a top manager without a successor lined up.

In Canada, the numbers are just as dramatic. As of 2017, the Globe and Mail reports that for the first time, Canada has more people over the age of 65 than under 15. The boomer age group—50 to 69—makes up 27% of the population, compared with 18% in that age group two decades ago.

In light of this massive retirement wave, there has never been a better time to gain the management skills needed to fill the gap. Having a Management Skills for Supervisors certificate on your résumé can help you take the next step in your career and secure the salary to match.
