Biography

Anushray Singh is an award-winning filmmaker, media professional, educator, and writer who divides his time between India and Canada. He has received his MFA in Film & Media Arts from the University of Windsor (2020) and B.Tech in Civil Engineering from the Vellore Institute of Technology (2017).

His work has been recognized by various socio-cultural-academic organizations, to name a few: Montreal Independent Film Festival, International Black & Diversity Film Festival, Ontario Heritage Trust, ISCS-York & Ryerson Universities, SOCA - Uwindsor, On Culture Days - Canada, ACCIDA - Brampton, Vernon Press and L'Harmattan Publications.

His teaching, art practice and writing on film, media and South Asian cultures have been realized through affiliations across academia, digital media platforms, publications and non-profits across India, Canada, the UK, the US, and Europe.

His expertise, inklings and passions lie in: Video & Podcast Production, Filmmaking, Film Festival & Cultural Event Organization, Teaching & Research (Primarily Indian-South Asian cultures, Cinema, Media Literacy & Culture), and Writing (academic, zine, film, reviews, op-eds & creative genres).

He is the Founder of The Young Creative Indian Space: a digital arts & creative community for young Indian creatives all over the world. He has served as the Executive Head of the non-profit North American Association of Indian Students - Canada, creating a unique digital media platform for and by 800,000+ Indian students in North America. He also served as an Editor for the online South Asian creative multidisciplinary platform Juice, a community for South Asian creatives.

His recent notable media projects are The Brown Book (2022), Across The River To Freedom (2022), The North Was Our Canaan (2020), YCIS Community Podcast (2021 - ), Zuerst/First (2020), Juice Magazine Issue 1 & 2 (2020 -2021). He is also the Contributing Author & Scholar in academic publications Minorities in Canada (2020) and Transnational American Studies (2022).
