Biography

William is a 20-year veteran of the computer animation industry, with a Bachelors and Masters in Computer Animation from the University of Teesside. He has experience working in, visual effects for feature film, games, animation and graphic design. As a 3D animation generalist his industry roles have included CG Supervisor, 3D Modeler, Animator, Lighting Technical Director and FX artist.

William is deeply motivated by the technical advancement of computer-generated imagery and how it is developing animation and interactive media as art forms. His personal projects aim to explore creative ways of utilizing new media technology to create compelling short films, and immersive virtual reality experiences.

Research Interests

  • Aesthetics of animation and visual composition.
  • The application of compositional principles in programming procedural 3D models and environments.
  • Storytelling in animation and particularly the anthropomorphism of objects and animals to tell compelling human stories.
  • CG lighting and rendering theory and practical application.
