"History in Real time:" Discovering modern Russia through selected readings, travel and service.

By: Larissa Horne and Eric Davis

Larissa will share her experience in developing and teaching "Post-Soviet Russia," an upper-level History course at UFV, which included travel to St. Petersburg, Russia in May 2008. The lecture will discuss the benefits of higher learning in an internationalized setting, the value of cross cultural observations and communication, and expansion of student's world view through travel and institutional service.

Eric will offer his impressions on the personal and intellectual growth of the student involved and the overall importance of collaboration between students, faculty and administration in the projects which serve to advance UFV's internationalization goals.
