Emergency Management is the strategic organizational management process used to protect critical assets of an organization from hazard, risk, and vulnerability to ensure the sustainability of an organization within its planned lifetime.
UFV Security & Emergency Management is charged with the responsibility to address mitigation/prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery related to risk or threat.
UFV's Emergency Management Plan provides a framework in planning for, responding to, and recovering from an emergency. By anticipating and preparing, we can reduce risk to the institution and surrounding community. The Plan provides guiding principles that, when applied with flexibility, can be utilized for various threats, risks, and hazards.
Each department is responsible for its own Departmental Emergency Plan, as well as Business Continuity Plan.
In any emergency situation, UFV's priorities are to:
- Provide safety and health to all responders
- Save lives
- Reduce suffering
- Protect public health
- Protect UFV infrastructure
- Protect UFV property
- Restore UFV operations
- Protect the environment
- Reduce economic & social losses
