The UFV Green Pledge

"I pledge to take into consideration the social, ecological and economic implications of my actions."

I will reduce energy . . .

Turn off the lights when I am the last to leave the room.
Close windows and blinds to keep the heat in or out when I am the last to leave a room.
Turn off my monitor when I leave the computer lab or my personal computer.
Turn off my personal computer when not in use.
Turn off personal printers at the end of the day.
Avoid using personal electric heaters.

I will travel responsibly . . .

Walk, ride, take public transit or carpool to school.

I will reduce waste and recycle more . . .

Use recycling receptacles on campus.
Avoid disposables and use reusable containers, mugs and water bottles.
Think before I print and print double sided.
Use recycled bags instead of new plastic bags.
Purchase locally grown produce.
Pack a litter free lunch.

I will think of other ways to re-think, reduce, re-use and recycle, act on them and encourage others to do the same.
