Science Rocks! 

The Faculty of Science offers Science Rocks! summer camp every year in July- August. Designed especially for young people in Grades 4, 5, and 6 (campers going into Grade 4 or 7 are eligible). These camps are great fun and an awesome learning opportunity for campers.

Student/Leader Ratios

We have a limit of 24 campers/week, for a camper to instructor ratio of 8:1. In addition to the leader-facilitators, one or more UFV Science Faculty members will be on site at all times.

Camp Pricing

Lunch is included with camp fees. Discounts for multiple camps apply for a single camper attending multiple weeks or multiple siblings attending the camps.

Formula:  #siblings   x   #camps = Total Cost

Examples:  

  • One child attends 2 weeks of camp: Cost $450
  • Two Siblings attend 1 week of camp each: Cost $450
  • One child attends 4 weeks of camp: Cost $900
  • Two Siblings attend 2 weeks of camp each: Cost $900

2015 Camp Themes

Each camp week will be organized around a central theme. Each day one or two activities will focus on that week's theme.  Over the course of a given week, campers can expect to experience activites from Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science.  Many of the weeks will also include activities from Geography and Kinesiology.

July   6 - 10 Abbotsford. Each day one or two of the activities will focus on things that stink, things that feel gross to touch, or things that are just plain yucky.

Camp 2: Turbo Week! 

(Abbotsford)

July 13 - 17 Abbotsford. Each day one or two of the activities will focus on the theme of speed and flight.

Camp 3: Fire and Light! 

(Abbotsford)

July 20 - 24 Abbotsford. Each day one or two of the activities will focus on things that glow, interesting behaviours of light or even safe demonstrations using fire.

Camp 4: Mysteries and Secrets! 

(Abbotsford)

July 27 - 31 Abbotsford. Each day one or two of the activities will focus on mysteries and secrets coming in many forms.

Camp 5: Amazing Activities!

(Chilliwack CEP campus)

August 10 - 14 Chilliwack CEP campus. For this week we plan to offer our most popular activities from all the Science Rocks! weeks.

Aboriginal Youth Camp

(Chilliwack CEP campus)

August 4 - 7 Chilliwack CEP campus. For this week we plan to offer our most popular activities from all the Science Rocks! weeks. Please note this camp is offered at a greatly reduced cost of $25. Priority for spaces in this camp is given to students who receive invitations from Chilliwack elementary school principals. We welcome applications for the waitlist and will notify you if space is available.

  • 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Drop-off is between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. at University House
  • Pick-up between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m at University House

Camp 5 (Chilliwack)

  • 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Drop-off is between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. at the atrium at the CEP campus.
  • Pick-up between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m. at the atrium at the CEP campus.
