Getting started

It is assumed that prior to beginning this module you have participated in some career planning activities and have a clear career goal in mind. If you have not yet participated in career planning, consider making an appointment to see a career counsellor, or sign up for a career search course or workshop offered through a post-secondary institution or the Career and Personal Planning department at your high school. There are also many career-planning options listed in the resource section of this guide that may be appropriate. In the meantime, be aware that career decision-making is based on many factors, including:

• Individual personality traits
• Work habits
• Comfort with working independently or as part of a team
• Short and long term goals
• How you measure success
