Certificate in International and Development Studies

  • This program is disigned to provide a sound background for students who intend to pursue careers in businesses with interests overseas, church work in the third world, teaching, journalism, community relations, translation, international development work, the tracel industry, diplomacy, government, international trade and commerce, as well as for thise withing to prepare for advanced scholarly work and research, Currently the International and Development Studies option focuses on Latin America.

   

 Associate of Arts in International and Development Studies

  • The Associate in Arts in International and Development Studies program is a multi-disciplinary program which includes courses in the disciplines of Anthropology, Communications, Cultural and Media Studies, Economics, Geography, Latin American Studies, Political Science, and Sociology. Additionally, it offers an optional ‘field school’ component. The Latin American field school or study tour component offers students the opportunity to gain practical experience abroad as well as obtain a field school certificate upon successful completion.

Bachelor of Arts in Global Development Studies

Global Development Studies (GDS) is a broadly interdisciplinary program designed to equip students with the critical academic knowledge, skills and experience required to function effectively as development professionals in Canada or abroad or to continue on to graduate or other professional studie

  • This unique program will provide students with a core of development, history and theory courses, a significant conponent of skills development and multiple opportunities to put their skills and theory to practice in the field.
  • Internship/practicum opportunities that support student learning in international development programs
  • Partnerships that develop and sustain academic, professional, international and local communities
  • Student based initiatives including conducting research, hosting events, and advancing development projects to promote community development at the local, national, and international level
