What is General Studies?

Design the Program that You Want and Need

Today’s students and tomorrow’s leaders require flexible education options that allow for blending of professional and academic training, interdisciplinary studies, applied and practical experiences, and mixed modes of delivery — in class, on-line, and in the field.

As a student in one of UFV’s General Studies programs, you will be able to customize your plan of study to suit your career and academic needs. And in doing so, you can choose from courses and experiences from the more than 100 disciplines and certificate programs that UFV offers, as well as integrate transfer credits. Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) students can also design an advance specialization as part of a thematic option.

Starting in Fall 2017, the Bachelor of General Studies will become one of the Fraser Valley’s most innovative degree programs. Find out what changes are coming, and see if the Bachelor of General Studies or General Studies diploma is right for you!
