Slow Internet (PLNet) Performance – Sept 29, 2014 (10:45 AM)

Our Internet Service provider, PLNet is experiencing slow internet performance.  This is affecting all UFV campuses.  PLNet is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it.  There is no estimated time for resolution.  Updates will be posted on this page as we receive them from PLNet.

Update: Sept 29, 2014 (11:35 AM)

The Internet issue with our ISP, PLNet has escalated resulting in no access to internet sites.  This affects Internet access from all UFV Campuses, but is NOT affecting inter-campus communications including email or access to UFV web sites, portal, etc.  PLNet has a global ticket open and is working to resolve the issue.  There is no estimated time to resolution.

Update: Sept 29, 2014 (01:35 PM)

PLNet has determined that today’s Internet Performance issues are related to an equipment failure at their network core in Vancouver.  Unfortunately this issue continues to affect Internet access and could also intermittently affect inter-campus data communication, including but not limited to email, telephone, myUFV, web site, Banner etc.  PLNet reports that they are working on the issue, but a resolution is not expected until 5:00 PM at the earliest.

Our Internet Service Provider, PLNet is experiencing Internet connectivity and performance problems affecting all customers in the province.  Despite reports this morning that issues were resolved, Internet connectivity continues to be unreliable.  PLNet has reports from several customers and is working to resolve the issue, however there is no estimated time of resolution.

We are experiencing BlackBoard Learn outage as of 1:05 PM PT. IT Services actively working on resolution. No estimated time of resolution at this point.


Wireless services unavailable on the Abbotsford Campus  - Sept 13, 2014 (8:00 am)

Wireless services including Eduroam and UFV-Secure are currently unavailable on the Abbotsford Campus.  IT Services is aware of the issue and is actively investigating.

Blackboard Learn System Issues - Sept 3, 2014 (4:31 pm) -- Resolved Sept 4, 2014 (1:30pm)

Currently we are experiencing delays with password resets, and enrolments into Blackboard.  If you are unable to log in to the system, or do not see your course listed, please contact your instructor immediately to advise them that you will login in as soon as the system catches up.

Update Sept 4 - 9AM:  System issues have been resolved - we expect changes, password resets, enrolments etc to be caught up within the hour. 


Inter-campus communication issues at  CEP.  – Aug 26, 2014, 9:45 am

The CEP campus is experiencing network communication issues affecting Banner, Library, Exchange and other inter-campus services.  Telephone service are working.  IT Services is actively working to resolve the problem with vendor hardware support.  There is no estimated time of resolution yet.  Updates will be posted on this page.


Student Email Temporarily Unavailable - July 16, 2014, 2:10pm

The student mail system is currently down.  IT Services is actively working on the issue.  A resolution is expected by the end of the afternoon at the latest.  An update will be posted as soon as the service is restored.


Slow PLNet Internet performance - June 9, 2014 - 9AM

Update:  June 12, 2014 4:00 pm - Although PLN has not yet indicated, our testing shows that internet performance is largely back to normal

All institutions on PLNet (Provincial Learning Network) including UFV are experiencing very slow internet performance at this time.  Shared Services BC is working on the issue.  There is no estimated time of resolution.

From PLNet:

"Please be advised that PLNet clients are experiencing poor internet performance this morning. This is affecting PLNet clients throughout the province. Issue first reported just before 9am.  Technical Support are investigating.  Currently no ETR.  Further updates will be provided as they are made available. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience."


Remote Outlook email issue - March 20, 2014 - 4PM
Resolved March 21, 2014 10:00 A.M.

Some users are having trouble using Outlook email from home. IT Services is aware of the issue and working to resolve it.
In the meantime users can access email remotely using http://webmail.ufv.ca

Banner Self-service, WebFocus unavailable -Feb 16, 2014
Resolved Feb 16, 2014 11pm.

IT Services and the Oracle team are still working on restoring Banner services.  Other services that may be affected are the BI Tool WebFocus, and FAST reporting.

Projected time of completion is 7AM on Monday, February 17.
