Online Courses

Login Information

  • Log into a Blackboard Learn course at bblearn.ufv.ca.

  • STUDENTS use their student number and their 6-digit myUFV password to log into an online course.

  • FACULTY use their their employee number and 6-digit myUFV password to log into an online course.
  • If you are on a UFV campus, make sure you use the UFV-Secure option to connect through wireless to a Blackboard Learn online course.

  • You can also log into myUFV and choose the My Courses channel to:

    • View their course schedules, homepages, and course material,

    • Email instructors, communicate with classmates, and

    • Access UFV online courses.

Online Help

  • Online courses will not open until noon on the first day of classes.

  • If students do not see their online course one they log in to myUFV, they should confirm their registration status with Office of the Registrar.

  • If you are having difficulties using BBLearn, please check your web browser compatibility and choose a browser that is CERTIFIED for best results.

    • To do this, click on the link provided on the bblearn.ufv.ca login page under Browser Compatibility.

Library User Web Services

My Library Account

  • At My UFV Library Account (Renewals)

    • STUDENTS use their student number and a 4-digit Library password

    • EMPLOYEES use their employee number and a 4-digit Library password

  • If you don't know your password, click on Don't know your PIN? and follow the web page instructions.  

  • You can also request your password in person at a UFV Library Circulation Desk.

Library User Services

  • Search the Library catalogue.

  • Check out information on resources, transfers, hold-item availability, outstanding fines, group study room bookings, as well as make interlibrary loan requests.

Library Off-Campus (Proxy) Access

  • To log in to the Research Databases, online article indexes and government databases:

    • NOTE: You must be either registered or employed in the current semester to have access to this information.

Universal Design and IT

  • UD (Universal Design) strives to provide a usable, welcoming, inclusive and independent learning environment and resources for students with a wide variety of characteristics.

  • Applications of UD in education includes the areas of instruction, services and policies, information technology and physical spaces.

  • At UFV, the Disability Resource Centre at is a key promoter of UD guidance.

Anti-Virus Software

  • UFV provides the Microsoft Forefront anti-virus client software for UFV workstations and UFV supplied laptops only
  • Home users may want to consider Microsoft Security Essentials anti-virus for personally owned computers

  • Microsoft Security Essentials can be downloaded from Microsoft and used with your free license for home users at www.microsoft.com/en-ca/security_essentials/default.aspx or another anti-virus solution of your choice

Email Security System

  • IT Services uses an email security system called the Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall.

  • This software works to monitor both incoming and outgoing mail, filtering out messages determined to be spam and/or infected with viruses.

  • Users can check their quarantined messages, classify messages as spam and not spam, manage whitelisting and blacklisting of email addresses, and modify their user preferences using the Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall interface.

Microsoft Home Use Program (HUP)

As an employee of UFV, you are eligible to purchase Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 for home use at a substantially reduced price - approximately $11!

You are entitled to 1 license per Home Use. Choose either Office 2013 Professional Plus OR Office for MAC. The license is good for two installs allowing employees with a home pc and a laptop to install on both.

Follow these simple steps:

  1. Go to www.microsofthup.ca
  2. Enter your work email address and program code.
  3. Buy and download Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013.

Note: For home users with low broadband or dial-up, you have the option of ordering Backup DVD for an additional $12.

Printing and Copying

  • Networking of departmental MFDs (multi-function devices) allows UFV employees to print from their desktops, scan to email and in some cases fax from their desktop or a MFD.

  • Your MFD may require you to enter your budget code for auditing purposes.

  • Remember to touch the CLEAR ALL button TWICE, and press “LOG OUT” on the touch screen when you are done to ensure only your copies are charged to your budget code.

  • UFV photocopiers using card readers may require a campus card.

  • Funds can be added to your campus card at one of the UFV Bookstores or at a UFV Library dispenser.

  • Computers and printers are available in the faculty prep rooms (Abbotsford, B385a; Chilliwack, 3404)

eRooms

  • eRooms are classrooms include the following special technical equipment:
    • a computer with network access
    • a data projector;
    • a VHS/DVD player;
    • a sound system and a computer jack for laptops.
  • Employees can reserve an eRoom through Room Bookings (OReg)
