UFV subscribes to a variety of article indexes and databases that make email alert services available to UFV students, staff and faculty. Three different types of alert services are:
Table of Content Alerts
Email updates of the table of contents of the most current issues of the journals you identify while signing up.
Daily/weekly Email Alerts
Notify subscribers of articles matching topics you have specified. Alert frequencies vary depending on the publisher's database updates.
Saved Search Alerts
Email notifications of recent articles matching previously executed searches.
Cambridge Journals Online
Select 'Register for an Account'.
Then, using the dropdown list under 'Cambridge Journals Online' on the left hand side of the page, select 'Favourite Journals' and 'Favourite Subjects' pages to set up email alerts and searching on desired subject areas.
Criminal Justice Abstracts, ERIC, GeoRef,
NCJRS Abstracts, Philosopher's Index, PILOTS, Social Services Abstracts, Sociological Abstracts
Select 'Please log in to My Research' on top right hand side.
Select 'New Users Register Here' on left hand side.
Complete the registration process.
Use 'Create Alerts' to perform a quick search and save as a weekly email alert.
Use 'Preferred Databases' to save a customized database group.

Select 'Advanced Search'.
Conduct desired search (it can be a subject or journal title).
Select 'Alert/Save/Share' in the blue bar at the top of your search results.
Under 'Create an Alert', select 'E-mail Alert'.
Select 'Sign In' and do so OR Select 'Create a New Account' and register and once registration is confirmed, click on the back button.
Save the search as an alert and choose desired options such as frequency.

Conduct desired search.
Select 'Save My Search'.
Log In OR create an account and select 'Save'.
Name your saved search, enter frequency preferences and select 'Save'.
Select 'BIP Alert' at top right to view/edit your saved alerts.
Select 'Register' at top right.
Complete the registration process. Thereafter, each time you use Ingenta, you must log in with your user name and password to activate the "My Ingenta" function needed for this service.
Select 'My Account' at right.
Under 'Alerts and Searches', follow the instructions for creating and managing alerts.

Just below the box, select 'Set up Alert'. Follow the instructions.
