Resident Assistants (RAs)
RAs are student leaders in the Baker House community. Each floor has two in-house RAs who are responsible for developing a space where all residents feel comfortable and safe. RAs are available for support, maintenance concerns, lockouts, and are trained to deal with any emergencies and conflicts that arise. RAs work closely with student associations and create various services and programs for residents. RAs are also responsible for discipline in the community and making sure that residents respect their community and each other. This position requires skills in leadership, programming, administration, and engagement.
Front Desk Assistants (FDAs)
FDAs run the Front Desk at Baker House. They greet residents, answer questions, monitor security, and give access to resources such as the common kitchen, games, and cleaning supplies. FDAs know a lot about the UFV campus and love to help their fellow students get the most out of their university experience. The Front Desk is open 8:30am-10pm, Monday to Friday, and 4pm – 10pm Saturday and Sunday. FDAs also work behind the scenes with administrative tasks that help Baker House to run smoothly. This position requires skills in customer service, administration, and organization.
Senior Front Desk Assistant (SFDA)
The Senior FDA is a member of the Front Desk team who acts as a resource for other employees and assists management with projects throughout the year. This position requires a role model who exhibits leadership qualities in addition to the skills required of the FDA position.
Assistant Residence Life Coordinator (ARLC)
The ARLC is a peer educator who provides learning and development to student staff and residents through a variety of avenues and opportunities. This person works primarily with the RA staff team and provides after-hours on-campus support. This position is designed for a graduate student or a student in the 4th year of their program.
Work Study Postions
Each year, Baker House has work study postions that are focussed on programming activities and events to help build community. Work study positions are posted on Career Link in early September and January.
