UFV adopted Blackboard Learn in 2012, and Hughes used it to offer a hybrid version of his soils course (GEOG 315) and will be using it this spring to supplement his weather and climate course (GEOG 101). Hughes creates an environment in Blackboard Learn for students to chat online about the course material, submit assignments, browse course content, and visit course-related websites.
Besides field and laboratory notebooks, his hybrid course last semester was paperless, including exams.

In this workshop, Hughes will demonstrate how to navigate Blackboard Learn, organize course content, adjust settings, make assignments, and evaluate student performance.

The workshop will include time for discussion about how learning management systems influence pedagogy.
