UFV Writing Prize Competition Awards Ceremonies
For the past 20 years, the Writing Centre at UFV has organized a university-wide multi-disciplinary writing prize competition to acknowledge the superb writing students do within their course-based assignments. The competition celebrates student success in many areas of study and foregrounds the diversity and complexity of academic writing. In 2010, the Centre organized an annual public awards ceremony in which students receive their prize money and present on their work. Their talks range from focus on what they had aimed at achieving in their written work, its relationship to their development as thinkers and writers, and its usefulness both inside and outside the academic context. Attendees include student winners and their family and friends, instructors, faculty writing prize judges, and representatives from the Deans’ offices and from senior management. The Writing Prize Awards events are an enormous success and unique celebration of students’ best work.
