Aircraft Structures Technician

Employment opportunities

Graduates of UFV's Aircraft Structures Technician Program are very well regarded. They can expect to find employment with major airlines, aircraft manufacturers, large repair and overhaul organizations, field base operators and specialty repair shops. These will generally be located around airports or major city centres. They may also be self-employed or work as consultants.

Here are just some of the companies who have hired our technicians:

Cascade Aerospace

Viking Air

KF Aerospace continues aggressive expansion plans in Kelowna and Hamilton, welcoming nearly 150 new employees over the last 7 months as the company hires to grow the Kelowna operation to about 675 permanent full time staff capable of maintaining 11 narrow body aircraft in heavy maintenance or modifications simultaneously.

KF has hired many UFV graduates, and is looking for more Structures Diploma graduates over the next 12-18 months.

Our primary hiring challenge is Structures Technicians and Apprentices. KF is forecasting to be short nearly 40 Structures staff between YHM and YLW until mid-2018 when the next Aircraft Structures classes graduate.

It is without hesitation that KF recommends graduation from UFV's Aircraft Structures program, as the supply of Structures apprentices is far below the demand in Canada for the foreseeable future.
