Spanish 201 and Spanish 202 together comprise the intermediate level of Spanish language studies at UCFV. They are structured in such a way that students may take either one first. However, students must take both in order to complete their intermediate tasks.

This course is designed to consolidate the language skills acquired in introductory-level courses and to build communicative skills and cultural competency. It prepares intermediate students to use Spanish in real-life situations by emphasizing oral communication and by developing the other basic language skills. Specialized tutorials will teach vocabulary and cultural knowledge in selected areas of social life (e.g., business communication and Latin American literature). Students will choose tutorials according to their interests and principal areas of study. Tutorial specializations will vary from year to year depending on student demand.

The course includes grammar explanations and group interaction and requires demonstrated proficiency in the use of basic structures by means of self-expression (oral and written) and translation. The course also attempts to promote cultural awareness.
