Associate of Science degree
Students are not admitted directly to the Associate of Science, however, students in Science
studies or the Bachelor of Science degree program can graduate with the Associate of Science
degree once all program requirements are met.
To be eligible for an Associate of Science degree you must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 18 courses. Please note that not all science courses are offered every semester. Therefore, it is important to carefully plan your courses in a sequential manner, paying particular attention to course prerequisites. Associate of Science students should consult with the science advisor, or an educational advisor to ensure that they select the appropriate science courses for their particular career direction.
The following is the Associate of Science program outline. Students wishing to complete the program in four semesters should follow the suggested outline below. Students who do not follow the suggested outline will take longer to complete the program.

Note 1: 100-level science courses should be applicable to the Bachelor of Science. Selection should be made based on the student’s area of interest and in consultation with the science advisor. Suggested courses and pairings include: BIO 111/112, CHEM 113/114, COMP 150/155, and PHYS 111/112.
Note 2: 200-level science courses should be applicable to the Bachelor of Science and cover two or more subjects. Selection should be made based on the student’s area of interest and in consultation with the science advisor. Applicable courses include: BIO 201, 202, 203, 210, 220, CHEM 213, 214, 221, 224, 241, COMP 251, 256, MATH 211, 214, 221, 235, 255, 270 and PHYS 221, 222, 231, 252.
Note 3: The Arts electives must be in a subject other than English, and this excludes mathematics and laboratory-based science courses. Arts electives can be either Humanities or Social Sciences (see the
Table of Subject Areas).
Co-operative Education option
The Co-operative Education option provides science students with the opportunity to acquire paid, career-related work experience in conjunction with their studies in the
Bachelor of Science and Associate of Science degree programs. See the Co-operative Education section for more details.
