Interdisciplinary Studies

English language proficiency requirements Students registering in post-secondary level courses (numbered 100 to 499) will be required to meet the English language entrance proficiency requirements. Students in ELS or the University Foundations programs can register in those courses identified in the University Foundations program with lower levels of language proficiency.

Please note that not all courses are offered every semester.

Interdisciplinary Studies I

Prerequisite(s): None.

Corequisite(s): None.

Pre- or corequisite(s): None.

Students will take an interdisciplinary and inquiry-based approach to considering a particular theme, learning to integrate knowledge and perspectives from more than one discipline, while developing foundational skills in critical thinking.

Note: This course will be offered under different letter designations (e.g. C-Z) representing different topics. This course may be repeated for credit provided the letter designation differs.

IDS 200

3 credits

Interdisciplinary Studies II

Prerequisite(s): 15 university-level credits.

Corequisite(s): None.

Pre- or corequisite(s): None.

Students will take an interdisciplinary and inquiry-based approach to considering a particular theme, learning to integrate knowledge and perspectives from more than one discipline in order to produce interdisciplinary work.

Note: This course will be offered under different letter designations (e.g. C-Z) representing different topics. This course may be repeated for credit provided the letter designation differs.

Interdisciplinary Studies III

Prerequisite(s): 45 university-level credits.

Corequisite(s): None.

Pre- or corequisite(s): None.

Students embrace interdisciplinary thinking by self-identifying big questions within the dominant theme of the course and exploring them through two or more disciplinary perspectives.

Note: This course will be offered under different letter designations (e.g. C-Z) representing different topics. This course may be repeated for credit provided the letter designation differs.

Interdisciplinary Seminar

Prerequisite(s): 75 university-level credits

Corequisite(s): None.

Pre- or corequisite(s): None.

Students adopt an interdisciplinary approach to a particular theme in a seminar setting and engage in an interdisciplinary project.
