UFV offers university-level courses in French, German, Halq'eméylem, Japanese, Mandarin, Punjabi, Spanish, and Russian.

UFV's Modern Languages Institute offers proficiency certificates in several languages. Intermediate Proficiency associate certificates are offered in French, German, Halq'eméylem, Japanese, Mandarin, Punjabi, Russian, and Spanish, and Advanced Proficiency certificates are offered in French, Halq'eméylem, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. UFV also offeres a French major, extended minor, and minor, a graduate certificate and diploma in Halq'eméylem, and a Spanish Language and Culture minor.
