Creative Writing extended minor

This extended minor can be applied to any degree program at UFV. This section specifies the extended minor discipline requirements only. Please refer to the specific degree section for information on additional requirements, declaration eligibility, and residency requirements.

The Creative Writing extended minor can be combined with another creative practice program only in the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Creative practice programs are offered in Creative Writing, Graphic and Digital Design, Theatre, and Visual Arts.

Note: This extended minor cannot be combined with an English major, Creative Writing concentration.

Lower-level requirements: 18 credits

• 12 credits of 100- or 200-level creative writing courses (see Note)
• Six credits of 100- or 200-level English other than creative writing courses (see Note)
  

Note: Lower-level creative writing courses are ENGL 104, 208 (formerly 111), 211, 212, 213, 215, and 298.

Upper-level requirements: 16 credits

• Eight credits of upper-level creative writing courses (see Note)
• Four credits of upper-level English other than creative writing courses (see Note)
• Four credits from ENGL 405 or 490

Note 1: Upper-level creative writing courses are ENGL 302, 303, 311, 313, 315, 317, 373, 377, 378, 381, and 405.

Note 2: At least 50% of the upper-level credits must be completed at UFV.
