Visual Arts extended minor

This extended minor can be applied to any degree program at UFV. This section specifies the extended minor discipline requirements only. Please refer to the specific degree section for information on additional requirements, declaration eligibility, and residency requirements.

The Visual Arts extended minor can be combined with another creative practice program only in the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Creative practice programs are offered in Creative Writing, Graphic and Digital Design, Theatre, and Visual Arts.

Lower-level requirements: 21 credits

  • Six credits of 100- or 200-level AH courses (see Note 1)
  • 12 credits chosen from any 200-level VA courses
  • Any 100- or 200-level VA course, or IPK 277

Note 1: Students completing a double extended minor in Visual Arts and Art History in the Bachelor of Arts will be permitted to substitute lower-level FILM or MACS course for lower-level AH, if necessary to complete program requirements without duplications.

Note 2: In order to be eligible to take the required upper-level courses, students must ensure they complete the appropriate lower-level prerequisites.

Upper-level requirements: 16 credits

  • Four credits of 300- or 400-level Art History
  • Six credits chosen from VA 321, 331, 351, or 383
  • Six credits chosen from VA 322, 332, 352, or 384

Note: At least 50% of the upper-level credits must be completed at UFV.


Visual Arts minor

This minor can be applied to any degree program at UFV. This section specifies the minor discipline requirements only. Please refer to the specific degree section for information on additional requirements, declaration eligibility, and residency requirements.

Lower-level requirements: 12 credits

12 lower-level credits in Visual Arts, Film, and Art History, including:

  • One Art History course
  • One Visual Arts course

Upper-level requirements: 15 credits

15 credits in Visual Arts and Art History, including:

  • One Art History course, 300-level or above
  • One Visual Arts course, 300-level or above

Note 1: In order to be eligible to take the required upper-level courses, students must ensure they complete the appropriate lower-level prerequisites.

Note: At least 50% of the upper-level credits must be completed at UFV.
