It provides students the opportunity to define their strengths and abilities in preparation for selecting realistic goals and introduces students to the world of computers including the Internet, e-mail, and word processing.

In this course, students will define their strengths and abilities in preparation for selecting realistic career options, comparing vocational options, and choosing appropriate entry-level work opportunities. They will learn how to prepare appropriately for effective interviews and develop a job-finding plan.

Safety and Industry Certificates
Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Workplace TASK Program
This module covers work safe principles and skills, aspects of customer service required in the industry and world of work in general, and a food-handling course. This course covers “controlled product/hazardous materials labeling which alerts workers to the identity and dangers of products and to basic safety precautions”. SuperHost and WHMIS certification. Students who achieve more that 70% on the exam will be registered with the Ministry of Health, and will receive a FoodSafe certificate recognized by the BC Hotels and Restaurant Association and employers throughout the province.

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Workplace TASK Program
This course will focus on identifying and locating job openings, as well as covering all other aspects of job search and job maintenance skills. This community work experience will provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate appropriate work attitudes on the job, and demonstrate the work skills and knowledge acquired in the classroom and during the work experience.

This community work experience will provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate appropriate work attitudes on the job, and demonstrate the work skills and knowledge acquired in the classroom and during the work experience. Students will utilize computer skills to research job openings, obtain career training, and to prepare a personal portfolio.
