Introduction to Mindfulness: Research, Theory, and Practice
Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Graduate certificate in Mindfulness-Based Teaching and Learning or department permission.
Introduces students to the range of mindfulness practices, concepts, theories, and research. As the first course in the MBTL graduate certificate program, it focuses on the historical, cross-cultural, and contemporary contexts of mindfulness and its role in the promotion of wellbeing, health, and lifelong learning.

Mindfulness-Based Teaching, Learning, and Leading
Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Graduate certificate in Mindfulness-Based Teaching and Learning or department permission.
Students explore mindfulness as an experiential learning approach that fosters attention, social-emotional learning, self-regulation, compassion, and reflection. Students critique a range of learning, teaching, and leadership theories and methods used with their respective professions, clients, and communities of practice.

Mindful Practice
Prerequisite(s): Completion of an eight-week mindfulness program and a five-day silent retreat and department permission.
Extends students’ skills in the practice and facilitation of mindfulness. Some of the teaching and learning experiences will transpire in a group semi-retreat context, in which students will be asked to maintain mindful awareness for an extended time.

In this capstone course, students integrate and apply what they've learned by conducting research and applying it within a field experience in their target profession or workplace.
