UFV offers university-level courses in French, German, Halq'eméylem, Japanese, Mandarin, Punjabi, Spanish, and Russian.

UFV's Modern Languages Institute offers proficiency certificates in several languages. Intermediate Proficiency associate certificates are offered in French, German, Halq'eméylem, Japanese, Mandarin, Russian, and Spanish, and Advanced Proficiency certificates are offered in French, Halq'eméylem, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. A French major, extended minor, and minor and a Spanish Language and Culture minor are also available.
