Digital Communication and Promotion post-baccalaureate diploma

Most employment sectors today require people who can communicate visually, digitally, and interculturally. Communication and design skills are a workplace imperative. It is also critical for companies and employees to be able to communicate effectively in the global market and in an inclusive manner. The Digital Communication and Promotion post-baccalaureate diploma will prepare students to succeed in multiple workplace environments by providing the skills training needed to work locally and globally in the information economy.

This program will equip graduates with the skills to display and communicate complex data and messaging, or to implement a communication or brand strategy that engages multiple stakeholders, demonstrates innovation, or attracts new clients and customers. While a bachelor’s degree provides a breadth of knowledge and analytical skills needed in many fields of employment, it does not necessarily equip graduates with the professional, digital, and technical skills needed to communicate their knowledge and innovative ideas. This post-baccalaureate diploma will give students these applied skills, plus enable them to demonstrate the transferable skills acquired from their bachelor’s degree in reference to Canada’s new Skills for Success.

Graduates will be ready for employment in a wide variety of employment sectors, including technology, science, business, health, not-for-profit management, human resources, tourism, finance, business, and public relations.

Entrance requirements

  1. A 3- or 4-year undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in any discipline with a minimum 60%, or C, average in the last 60 credits or equivalent taken.
  2. Applicants must meet the Degree/diploma level English language proficiency requirement. For details on how this requirement may be met, see the English language proficiency requirement section of the calendar.

Additional documents required for a complete application:

Program continuance

Students enrolled in undergraduate courses (courses numbered 100 or higher) must maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.00 to remain enrolled in Good Academic Standing at UFV. Students in Good Academic Standing will have no registration limits placed on them. Failure to meet the minimum CGPA requirement will result in restrictions on registration and may eventually lead to academic suspension from studies at UFV. Students on Academic Warning or Academic Probation are limited to registering in 10 credits. For further details, see the Academic standing and undergraduate continuance section of the academic calendar. Academic standing is governed by UFV's Undergraduate Continuance policy (92).

Course repetition

Students are not permitted to register for the same course more than three times. Students wishing to register for a course for a fourth time should connect with the Student Rights and Responsibilities Office. Where a course has been repeated, only the higher grade is counted in the GPA calculation.

Readmission

As this is a cohort program, readmission following a stoppage in studies is at the discretion of the dean and dependent on space in the appropriate semester of registration.

Residency

Students must complete at least 50% of the course work at UFV.

Graduation requirements

Students are responsible for ensuring they are eligible to graduate, and should regularly consult with an Academic Advisor. To be eligible to graduate, students must achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.00 on all courses (49 credits) required to complete the program.

Students must apply for graduation in the first month of their final semester. Visit the Graduation webpage for more information. The final deadline for students who wish to attend the June Convocation ceremony is April 1 of each year, with all program requirements completed by April 30.

Maximum length of time to complete program
