Mathematics minor

This section specifies the Mathematics minor discipline requirements only. This minor must be combined with another minor, extended minor, or major other than the Mathematics major, Mathematics extended minor, or Mathematics minor (Statistics option). Please refer to the appropriate section of the calendar for information on additional degree requirements.

Declaration requirements

Students admitted to the Bachelor of Science may formally declare a major or minor if they have a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and meet the declaration requirements for the subject discipline. BSc students are expected to declare a major or minor by the time they have completed 60 credits.

Bachelor of Science students wishing to declare a Mathematics minor must complete one of MATH 112, MATH 211, MATH 221, or MATH 255/ENGR 255, with a minimum grade of C+, prior to their formal declaration.

Note 1: Students may use MATH 381/PHYS 381 as part of the upper-level credits in both the Mathematics minor and a Physics major or minor. A maximum of two upper-level courses (maximum eight credits) may be shared between two degree options.

Note 2: Students who intend to enter UFV’s Bachelor of Education with a secondary school option should be aware that 18 credits of mathematics courses at the 300 or 400 level are necessary in order to have mathematics as a teachable minor.
