Fitness classes

Campus recreation has a variety of heart-pumping and zen-building options that will leave you feeling happy and healthy. All instructors are certified and highly experienced and can help tailor classes to all fitness levels.

There are two types of Fitness classes:

  • Drop-in | Fitness: These classes run throughout the semester. In Abbotsford, they are included in the Peak Pass Membership and you will need to sign-in with your Campus Card or online prior to attending. In Chilliwack, classes are free for UFV students and offered at a discounted rate for employees and alumni. An Xplor Recreation Account is required for all participants.
  • Register | Active Living Programs: Pre-registration is required before attend a single session or series of classes. They are not offered as a "drop-in" sessions. You can register for these classes through Xplor Recreation or in person at the Client Services Desk (E150).

Drop-in | Fitness classes are included in the Peak Pass Membership. There is also the option to purchase a single day pass or a punch pass if you only want to attend drop-in fitness classes. This information can be found on the Rates & passes website

It is recommended to sign up on Xplor Recreation, but it is not mandatory. Sign-in at the Client Service Desk (E150) prior to attending class is mandatory

Self-Care Yoga

A mind-body practice that combines yoga postures, movements, and breathing techniques to help you reduce stress, increase your energy and an opportunity to take some "me" time.

Zumba

This class is an absolute blast. Energizing your mind and body as you take the “work” out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party!

Spin & Strength

This indoor cycling class is designed for all fitness levels. Starting on spin bikes and focusing on building muscle and cardio endurance with brief high intensity bursts. Then finishes with strength exercises using equipment for improved overall fitness gains.

Body Blast

This total body workout is the perfect mixture of cardiovascular and bodyweight exercises that will help you improve your overall physical well-being and strength. Class is designed for individuals to work at their own pace. Recommended to bring a water bottle and a towel.

No scheduled classes | currently looking for a certified and insured fitness instructor to teach a weekly class. If you are a fitness instructor who is certified and insured email campusrec@ufv.ca to apply. Open to other fitness class options.

Drop-in fitness classes in Chilliwack are currently free for UFV students and available at a discounted rate for UFV employees and guests accompanying a UFV community member. All participants are required to create an Xplor Recreation account and register for classes in advance. This helps us track attendance and notify participants of any last-minute schedule changes.

Yoga Flow

Blending the benefits of active movement yoga practice and a deep connection to the breath. This class will include a warming of the body through dynamic posture sequences, as well as the balance of quiet, cooling postures for an integrated and nourishing practice to help calm and relax the nervous system.

Pilates on the Mat

This 40-minute introductory Pilates class focuses on foundational movements and principles, offering a beginner-friendly mat flow. The class emphasizes proper form alignment, core principles, breath control and concentration. Modifications for all levels and variations for advanced participants are provided to ensure an enjoyable practice for everyone.

Latin Dance with Caroline 

Join an exciting beginner Latin Dance class with Caroline from Blumorpho Concept on the Chilliwack campus. With over 10 years of experience as a Latin Dance instructor, Caroline is passionate about fostering cultural awareness and respect for nature. Her dance style is a unique blend of her French, Italian, and Caribbean heritage, drawing inspiration from Jazz, Latin, and Yoga for enhanced spine flexibility—what she calls the “Blumorpho Dance Style.” Don’t miss the chance to dance with her

Mindful Movement 

Combining movement with meditative techniques, this 40-minute class will feature low-intensity dynamic movement and static stretching fused with breath-work, guided imagery and (optional) journal prompts designed to lower stress and refresh your mind and body! This class is the perfect way to unwind as you approach the end of the semester.

Note: Classes are suitable for all fitness levels as instructors will provide modifications or amplifications when needed.  We ask that you wear athletic shoes and clothing bring a water bottle, sweat towel and mat (there will be some fitness mats available)

Are you new to fitness?

We welcome all those who wish to participate in our programs. All our programs are open to all fitness levels. Physical activity improves your physical and mental health, even small amounts of physical activity can be beneficial. Participating in physical activity is very safe for MOST people. However, it is recommended to check with your doctor before starting to becoming more physically active.
