Job summary

Information Technology Services requires Auxiliary, Information Technology Support Staff. Opportunities include entry-level support in areas:

 IT Service Desk and Support Analyst: This role will act as the primary contact for users with IT issues or enquiries, and will provide first level technical support. Service desk duties include receiving, recording, assigning and reporting on help desk service requests received by telephone, email, and other help desk communications.  Other tasks may include technical troubleshooting, deploys software, supports and troubleshoots UFV standard computer hardware and peripherals used by faculty, staff and students. 

Networking: General knowledge of data cabling standards and experience installing and configuing network switches is recommended.Cisco CCNA certification or CompTIA Network + is an asset for this role.

Programming: Entry-level system analysis support in areas of programming, tier 2 support, application administration and database support. Candidates should have current programming language experience with good analysis and work-flow skills.

Audio/Visual: Assisting the A/V team with maintaining and upgrading educational technology products and components in its classroom across the Fraser Valley.

All positions may be required to lift computer equipment, supplies and materials while spending brief periods of time working under desks and in tight spaces.


May be required to work evenings and possible weekends


Completion of a certificate in Computer Information Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent post-secondary education is required. Applicants working towards a diploma or degree in Information Technology is considered an asset. Minimum one (1) year of related experience.  Successful applicants must have exceptional customer service skills; demonstrated ability to work as part of an integrated team; excellent communication skills; able to provide discretion and confidentiality, competent with varying technologies; able to remain calm while working in a fast-paced environment.
