The Faculty of Applied and Technical Studies invites applications for a sessional instructor in our Carpentry apprenticeship and foundation programs. Under the general direction of the Director of the School of Trades, Faculty of Applied & Technical Studies, the instructor will organize, develop, manage and instruct the Carpentry program. This program is offered at the Trades & Technology Centre in Chilliwack, BC.
This position requires someone who will commit to developing the carpentry program and has demonstrated abilities for writing lesson plans and exam questions, developing presentations, as well as marketing and promoting this program. Preference may be given to candidates who have completed or are enrolled in the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program.
The position requires a dynamic individual, fully certified in the Carpentry trade, combined with relevant and current industry work experience. The ideal candidate will have a diverse background including a high level of knowledge and exposure to the latest technology used in the Carpentry industry today. The candidate will have extensive industry specific experience; leadership qualities; good interpersonal skills; good oral and written communication skills; and a working knowledge of computers and various software applications. Preference will be given to individuals with knowledge of the BC Apprenticeship Program and evidence of leading people towards a common goal in a diverse working environment.
Consideration will be given to those who have extensive connections and contacts with the local region and a broad involvement with local businesses and organizations. This individual will be a creative thinker who has the ability to create excitement and enthusiasm about the trade and the program at UFV.
