Changing Lives, Building Community is the mandate of UFV and the theme of our strategic plan. UFV strives to:

Indigenization

Collegial Environment
The university operates in a collegial unionized environment. The joint Faculty and Staff Association (FSA) represents over 90% of all the university’s permanent and temporary employees, who together with university administration, work toward achieving the University’s goals and ensuring the long term success of our community. Together, we advance the mandate of UFV to change lives and build community.

BC Top Employer
UFV is proud to be recognized as one of BC’s Top Employers for the 5th consecutive year — in 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, and 2015. Read the reasons for our selection.
Centre of Excellence for Agriculture
The BC government awarded UFV with the establishment of an Agriculture Centre of Excellence, providing the infrastructure that our students and communities require to identify trends, react to challenges and opportunities, and innovate in agribusiness including production, processing, and marketing of food, ornamental plants, and nutraceuticals.
Fraser Valley Cultural Diversity Award
UFV received the 2017 Fraser Valley Cultural Diversity Award - Inclusive Environment category, and previously the 2013 Reflective Workforce Award from Abbotsford Community Services. The Cultural Diversity Awards recognize organizations and individuals who attract, promote, and encourage diversity within the organization.
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
New buildings at our Chilliwack (Canada Education Park) campus achieved LEED silver and gold certification. UFV's new Student Union Building in Abbotsford will attain a minimum gold certification.
