LTA Instructor, School of Computing, Faculty of Business and Computing, UFV. Simily received her Ph.D in Computer Science from Cochin University of Science and Technology, INDIA, and her Masters Degree in Computer Applications from Mahatma University, India. She received a research Fellowship for Ph.D. from Cochin University of Science and Technology 2009-2010. She was granted the Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence Fellowship, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, 2010-2013. Simily started her career as a lecturer at Cochin University of Science and Technology and Mahatma Gandhi University. She also worked as a Project Manager at Geojit Technologies, India. During her tenure as the Project Manager at Geojit Technologies, she led the organization from CMMI Level 3 to CMMI Level 5. After moving to Canada, she started teaching at Canadian College, Vancouver, and later moved on to Alexander College and Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Currently, she teaches at both UFV and Alexander College. Over the years she taught different programming languages, including C++, Java, and Python. In addition to this, she also taught Artificial Intelligence, Networking, Database Management Systems, Management Information Systems, Elements of Computing, and Project Management. Teaching is my passion because I feel honored and satisfied in creating a better world by helping my students. My teaching aims to inspire students in my subjects and to develop a lifelong love for learning and academic excellence. I focus on developing transferrable skills by which my students excel academically, professionally, and personally. I cultivate critical thinking in my students so that they can visualize worldly needs and provide a broader and inclusive solution with their strong technical base in Computer Science. My highlight is performing a collaborative and collegial work culture that inspires innovative, interdisciplinary, curriculum and academic design improving student experiences and outcomes in the programs. I practice and promote a supportive and inclusive environment where diversity and equity are honored and every learner feels valued, respected, and motivated to achieve their full potential.
