This beginner class has been designed to introduce students to the basic skills and techniques involved in silversmithing. Whether you are making jewelry for yourself, for gift giving or if you are interested in forging a path to becoming a silversmith this course is a fun way to learn something new. Over this 6-week hands-on program, you will learn the foundational skills of silversmithing. Students will complete 2 projects: one pendant and one ring, each project focusing on different areas of metalwork. You will be introduced to commonly used tools, aspects of design, piercing, sawing, bezel making, stone setting, and soldering.
A basic silversmithing tool kit is required for this class, which can be purchased for $150. Sterling silver and gemstones will also be available for purchase in the form of project kits. The estimated cost of the first kit is $35; this cost is dependent on metal quantity and stone choice. No previous experience is necessary.

This level II beginner class has been designed build on the basic skills and techniques learned in Beginner Silversmithing I. This is a great class for the hobbyist or for those of you who are on the path to becoming a silversmith. Over this 6-week hands-on program, you will learn that you will continue to build on your foundational silversmithing knowledge. Students will complete 2 projects; a prong set pendant and a mediation ring. You will be introduced to new tools, new aspects of design, building on your sawing skills, creating settings, stone setting, and soldering.
A basic silversmithing tool kit is required for this class, which can be purchased for $150 if not already purchased for level I. Sterling silver and gemstones will also be available for purchase in the form of project kits. The estimated cost of the first kit is $35; this cost is dependent on metal quantity and stone choice. Take a staycation and attend our 5-day fun and intensive metalsmith class for those who would like to immerse themselves in the fabulous world of jewelry making in our newly equipped shop. Supply fees will vary depending on the materials chosen by students for projects.
Students will learn basic metal jewelry making skills and apply them to create the following 3 projects:
In the above projects, students will learn skills such as rolling mill techniques, annealing, ring sizing, forming, piercing, sawing, texturing, wire shaping, soldering, hammering, and polishing.
No experience is necessary. Please wear closed-toed shoes, comfortable clothes, hair must be tied back, and no scarves or loose clothing.

In this course, students will continue their creative journey by learning new concepts in design and finishing as well as being introduced to new tools. During this 6 week course, we will be focusing on complex design elements and different soldering techniques. Students will be required to design a complete and cohesive set: Ring, Pendant and Earrings. These projects will employ fusing techniques, tube setting, as well as creating findings for earrings.
