You can combine an extended minor in Theatre with another extended minor in one of five fine arts disciplines, including Art History and Visual Studies, Creative Writing, Graphic Design, Media and Communication Studies, and Visual Arts.

The Theatre extended minor requires 15 lower-level credits and 20 upper-level credits.

View the UFV Calendar for more information about the Theatre extended minor's requirements.

Theatre Minor

The Theatre minor requires 12 lower-level credits and 16 upper-level credits.

CAREER EXPECTATIONS

Because most jobs in the performing arts are short-term assignments, most actors, directors, and producers are self-employed. Hiring a reputable agent to represent you can help boost your success.

Mastering special skills such as dancing, singing, playing a musical instrument, acrobatics, juggling, horseback riding, sword fighting, archery, martial art, or stunt work can open additional employment opportunities.

Jobs also exist in related areas such as stage management, set or costume design, event promotion, lighting or sound management, scriptwriting, stunt coordination, fundraising, commercial video production, and more.

Many theatre grads also use the communication, teamwork, and management skills they have acquired to excel in other fields such as business, public relations, advertising, hospitality, arts administration, or education.

UFV's Theatre department has been an amazing catalyst for growth. When I started in the theatre program, acting was my first love. But I got to try directing and designing, which now have an enormous place in my heart. Sometimes you don’t know what you love about theatre until you get the chance to try it — at UFV, anything is possible.
